The Boston Celtics remain focused on trading for New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis despite his father's comments, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Anthony Davis' father told ESPN on Friday he doesn't want his son to play for the Celtics because they aren't a loyal franchise. Davis Sr. was referring to how Boston traded point guard Isaiah Thomas in the summer of 2017 to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving after Thomas played on a serious hip injury and having gone through the death of his sister.

The Celtics don't care what Anthony Davis' father has to say, though, and are still going to go all out in their pursuit of The Brow. New Orleans has reportedly not heard anything that would make them unwilling to wait for a trade until the summer, which is when the Celtics can join the Davis sweepstakes.

Boston can't trade for Anthony Davis this season while having Kyrie Irving on the roster because of the “Rose Rule.” Once Irving opts out of his 2019-20 player option with the team in July, the Celtics can offer their bevy of young assets to the Pelicans for Davis.

It is widely assumed that Anthony Davis wants to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers so he can play with LeBron James, whom he shares an agent with. The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 7. It's looking more and more likely, though, that we are going to see a Davis trade in the summer.
