There has been a lot of behind-the-scenes drama regarding TNT and Inside the NBA potentially breaking up, and Charles Barkley did not hold back on his bosses during an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show.

“We're just sitting back on these people to figure out what they're gonna do,” Charles Barkley said on the Dan Patrick Show. “My two favorite wines are Inglenook and Opus, and these clowns I work for, they've turned us into Ripple and Boone's Farm and Thunderbird. Like, we got the best studio show. And it's so funny, we just won the best studio show but these fools turned us from Inglenook and Opus into damn Boone's Farm and Ripple. It's crazy.”

Even if you are not a wine enthusiast like Barkley is, it is easy to tell that he is frustrated with the situation and believes that TNT should do what it takes to keep Inside the NBA. Patrick flat-out asked him if he was angry about the situation, and he said he was.

“I am,” Barkley said. “You know Dan, it's so interesting. I been spending a lot of time with the crew lately. I've actually been with these guys, who I've spent time with their, they bring their newborns in. They bring their kids in. They come in like when they were in high school. And now they're graduating for college. I mean that's how long. Ernie's been there 32 years. Kenny's been there 27, I've been there 24, but think about that. Some of these people I work with, they brought their newborns in and said hello to us, they brought them in in high school when they graduated, and now they're already graduating from college. So yeah, I'm angry, people who that you know, they're part of my family to be honest with you. So, and I feel bad for those guys.”

Barkley went on to say that TNT”s boss messed up when he said that they do not need the NBA, and he speculated that that could have upset commissioner Adam Silver. He also said that while the higher ups at TNT might not need the NBA, Barkley and his coworkers do. Barkley also brought up a potential solution if TNT does lose out on the NBA.

What can Charles Barkley do to save Inside the NBA?

Barkley brought up the idea of hiring his cohosts Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson to his production company, then selling the rights to Inside the NBA to another network.

“Well I've talked to the guys about everybody signing with my production company because I have my own production company, and I would love to do that if we lose it,” Barkley said. “Actually somebody suggested that to me to be honest with you, on the internet. ‘So why don't Charles Barkley sign these three guys, four guys total to his production company and sell it.' I'm like, ‘that's a great idea.'”

While it seems like TNT's days covering the NBA might be numbered, there is a glimmer of hope that Inside the NBA could still continue elsewhere.
