After the UK government's decision to freeze the assets of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, the club is now at risk of losing out on some significant sponsorship deals. Chelsea's jersey sponsors, the telecommunications company, Three, has suspended its sponsorship agreement with the club effective immediately, and are reportedly requesting that the club don't feature its logo on their kits for Thursday's matchup against Norwich F.C., according to Sam Cunningham.

“In light of the government’s recently announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including the removal of our brand from shirts and around the stadium until further notice,” the telecommunications company reportedly told iNews UK.

Chelsea is slated for a road game against Norwich F.C., which is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. EST. It's unclear whether or not the club will wear their usual kits for the match, despite the reported request from Three. Perhaps they'll take a page out of Ted Lasso's book and put tape over the Three logo on their kits.

Three acquired the sponsorship rights for Chelsea's kits in 2019 on a deal that was set to run through the 2023 season. The company announced its intentions to suspend the sponsorship deal, however, it made no comments regarding its future standing with the club, leaving the door open for the deal to resume once Chelsea's issues are sorted out.

Three is not the only Chelsea sponsor mulling its future association with the club. Hyundai, which is the official automotive partner of the club, also released a statement in which they explained the company is “assessing the situation” regarding its ties to Chelsea.
