Chelsea is looking to offload Romelu Lukaku this summer after a tumultuous campaign at Stamford Bridge. After splashing over $100 million on the Belgian though, they're hoping to send him on loan somewhere, with former club Inter Milan emerging as the most likely destination.

Although the Serie A outfit has yet to meet Chelsea's asking price for Lukaku, both parties are expected to come to an agreement because it's the best move for the player himself.

And while owner Todd Boehly knows this is the right decision, there is also a belief the relationship between Lukaku and Thomas Tuchel may never be fixed.

Via David Ornstein of The Athletic:

It is understood the club’s new co-owner Todd Boehly is still to be fully convinced that letting last season’s top scorer, and someone contracted until 2026, leave temporarily is the right decision.

Yet those close to the matter think the relationship between Lukaku and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is badly strained by events of the past 12 months and will be difficult to repair.

Ornstein noted however that Lukaku and Boehly seem to be on the same page and get along well. That being said, if the Chelsea striker isn't in Tuchel's good books, it's hard to imagine him staying in London long-term.

Between injuries and inconsistent play, Lukaku fell down the pecking order at Chelsea, scoring just eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances. Perhaps he goes to Inter, finds his old form, and reunites with them on a permanent basis because right now, the thought of him actually staying with the Blues until 2026 is practically unheard of. They may need to cut their losses.
