The Kansas City Chiefs were forced to shake things up in the backfield with the release of running back Kareem Hunt. It seems head coach Andy Reid has an idea how things will play out in the 2019 NFL season.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding who will take over as the workhorse. Reid said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL that he will utilize a committee in the backfield to due his bidding, via Jeff Ratcliffe of Pro Football Focus:

Andy Reid appeared on the SiriusXM NFL Training Camp tour and said to expect an RBBC in the Chiefs backfield this season. Along with Damien Williams, he pointed out the play of Darrel Williams and also mentioned Carlos Hyde.

The Chiefs' first unofficial depth chart has running back Damien Williams pegged as the current starter. Williams has not been shy about expressing his high hopes going into the season as the No. 1 back. He served as a viable replacement for Hunt after finishing the 2018 campaign with 256 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 23 receptions, 160 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.

Regardless, it appears he will have a tough time fending off touches from the other talented options in the backfield. Although running back Carlos Hyde is coming off a rocky year with the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars; he is still the only proven name in the backfield.

Meanwhile, it appears Darrel Williams has also managed to make quite the impression on Reid. It will be interesting to see ho the pecking order plays out once the regular season begins.
