Andy Reid saw that the Kansas City Chiefs were clicking on all cylinders in the preseason opener, but the same cannot be said for their outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

The Chiefs struggled to find their footing on both sides of the ball in their 17-7 loss to the Steelers. According to Brook Pryor of The Kansas City Star, head coach Andy Reid insists no one from Kansas City was pleased with their performance:

Andy Reid on the teleconference: “nobody came out of that game happy”

The night had taken an ominous turn for the worst when it was delayed by an hour. Spending more time than necessary preparing for a meaningless game is hardly an ideal situation. Regardless, their lack of effort was made all the more evident against Pittsburgh.

The Chiefs were only able to get a few drives from their first offense. The second one was cut short after running back Carlos Hyde fumbled the ball and effectively ended the day for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Aside from another touchdown from wide receiver Mecole Hardman, the backups did not far much better.

Kansas City also provided fans with a look at the starting defense. Although the first group managed to show plenty of promise, the lackluster effort from the second and third teams clearly left a bad taste in Reid's mouth.

Expectations remain as high as ever for the Chiefs going into the 2019 NFL season. While the primary goal is to make it to the regular season as healthy as possible, they will need to develop quality depth if they hope to take that next step.
