According to head coach Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs officials have begun discussing what would happen to receiver Tyreek Hill if he is charged with a crime related to his possible battery of a child.

Speaking at the coaches’ breakfast with media at the annual NFL league meeting (via The Washington Post), Reid discussed the situation. However, he declined to specify if the Chiefs would release Hill if he is found guilty or charged with any crime.

“We’ve talked,” Reid said at the coaches’ breakfast, “but I’m not going to go into that. We’ve talked about things. But there’s nothing more really to report than what we talked about before, the statement we put out. We had the initial talk. But there’s nothing that’s followed up on that.”

When asked again if he is prepared to say what exactly the Chiefs would do if Tyreek Hill is charged or convicted of a crime, Reid simply said the team would let things play out before making a decision. Reid also said that he hadn’t spoken with Hill since the initial reports of his potential battery occurred.

“I have not, no,” Reid said. “Our counsel has told us not to do that. So I have not been in contact with him. I really don’t even have a further statement from what we put out. Really, nothing’s happened there. There’s no news there.”

Problems began earlier this month, when media revealed that police in Overland Park, Kan., were called twice to Hill’s home to investigate a report of child abuse, and later to investigate a potential battery incident with the same child as a victim. According to reports, that victim is allegedly Hill’s 3-year old son. While his name was listed on reports of the incident, prosecution was declined, and Hill’s name was not listed on any reports of later incidents, and Hill has yet to be charged with any crime.
