The Kansas City Chiefs have quickly cooled down from their hot start to the season in part from the series of injuries that the team has dealt with over the last several weeks.
Kansas City has addressed part of that issue by acquiring former Pro Bowler cornerback Darrelle Revis through free agency that includes potentially paying him $10 million for the 2018 season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
#Chiefs CB Darrelle Revis signed a 2-year deal that pays him the minimum (with incentives available) for 2017 and $10M for 2018, I’m told. KC must make a decision by the start of the 2018 league year before the money becomes guaranteed.

Although Revis may be in line for a huge payday next season, the Chiefs will have to make the decision to keep him on board before the start of the 2018 NFL campaign. This will likely require him to show the front office that he can still be a difference maker in the secondary this year.
On top of that, there is reportedly some team-based incentives for the 2017 season in the deal such as getting $1.75 million if he plays in the AFC title game and another $1.75 million if they win the Super Bowl. All of this set a clear set of motivation for him to fulfill those scenarios to earn a more substantial amount on his deal.
Revis is coming off a disappointing 2016 campaign that led to him being out on the open market through the first 11 weeks of this season. This could be the last chance that the 32-year-old could have to rejuvenate his NFL career.
