The Kansas City Chiefs opened up their season with a shocking home loss to the Detroit Lions, and analyst Nick Wright was the subject of some ridicule after the game. Last week, Wright predicted on FS1's First Things First that the Chiefs would go 20-0 en route to the Super Bowl, and even unveiled a tattoo reading “never a doubt.”

It only took one game for Wright's bold proclamation to collapse, and X, formerly known as Twitter, did not let him off the hook after the game's conclusion.

Some users evoked Wright's surname as a punchline in their mockery.

Others noted that the Chiefs had an unprecedentedly awful showing from receiver Kadarius Toney in the loss.

Indeed, Toney did not have the start he was looking for to open up 2023. The receiver dropped several point-blank passes in the game, including one that directly led to a Lions pick six. Another Toney drop stalled a Chiefs drive that led to Detroit putting the game away with their ensuing drive.

It's also true that the Chiefs were without their second and third best players in Travis Kelce and Chris Jones. Still, that probably won't help matters for Nick Wright, who took the loss in stride on the most recent edition of First Things First.

The Chiefs will certainly be hoping that Jones and Kelce are back on the field by the time Week Two rolls around. They will travel to Jacksonville to face last year's divisional opponent, the Jaguars, for their second game of the 2023 slate.
