Super Bowl LIV is only hours away from happening, and the Kansas City Chiefs are already hungry for championship glory. However, quarterback Patrick Mahomes still found an opportunity to push for a chance to enthrall the crowd with one play.

Mahomes' teammates revealed ahead of the big game that he's working on something special in the form of a behind-the-back pass during team practice. And if he manages to get the play involving the pass added to Andy Reid's plays, then the crowd will be in for a ride.

NFL.com's James Palmer got to talk to Mahomes' teammates and revealed that he's been cooking something up for a good while now:

“[Mahomes] tries it all the time because he keeps lobbying for coach Reid to put it in the system,” backup quarterback Chad Henne said this week. “He tells coach Reid, ‘I can option this way and then throw it back this way', and I'm like, ‘Ahhh, let's just take care of the ball.' ”

“I think he's got a little trick up his sleeve, but I don't want to spoil nothing,” wide receiver Demarcus Robinson said with a laugh.

Patrick Mahomes is known for his outrageous passes throughout the season. He's unleashed a couple of incredible passes from weird positions, so for him to be experimenting with another pass is not that surprising. In fact, these kinds of passes only add to his unpredictability as a quarterback.

The San Francisco 49ers will be pressed to contain Mahomes and not allow him to feel confident enough to make those passes. However, it will be a grand time for Chiefs fans if he manages to launch a behind-the-back pass.
