The Kansas City Chiefs traded away one of Patrick Mahomes' top weapons in Tyreek Hill this offseason. With Hill now set to catch passes from Tua Tagovailoa with the Miami Dolphins, the Chiefs will need others to step up and fill the production void at wide receiver.

With Hill gone, Kansas City has revamped its wide receiver corps. Mecole Hardman is still around, but now JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling join him on the top of the depth chart. Veteran Josh Gordon is still there too for depth, and the Chiefs have a few notable rookies in the fold. They selected Skyy Moore out of Western Michigan in the second round and snagged former Clemson star Justyn Ross as an undrafted free agent.

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes will certainly miss Hill's big-play ability and that security blanket he offered. However, he has found silver linings to his departure and is also looking forward to having a “deep receiving room.”

Via McKenzie Nelson of KSHB 41 Kansas City:

“It’s a very deep receiving room, Mahomes said. “It’s hard to tell which guys are going to make it because there are so many good receivers. That’s what you want. You want that competition.”

There is certainly plenty of talent in place for the Chiefs at wide receiver, but it's a matter of them reaching their potential and getting the best out of it. Smith-Schuster looked the part of a dominant No. 1 receiver early in his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers but fell off. Hardman is solid but has never really stood out. Valdes-Scantling is a big-play threat who has had issues with consistency and drops in his career. Gordon's trials and tribulations are well-documented. Moore and Ross are rookies.

Playing with Mahomes and Travis Kelce in this Chiefs offense should help this group, and they're going to do their best to help replace what Hill brought to the table.
