The 11-4 Kansas City Chiefs are expected to have a reasonably easy finish to their season as they are set to face the 5-10 Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. Before doing so, changes were made to the roster with tailback Spencer Ware and defensive lineman Xavier Williams trading places, the team announced.

Ware disappointingly ended his rather short tenure with a shoulder injury, marking the end of his second stint with the Chiefs.

Ware signed with the Chiefs in December, rushing for 51 yards on 17 carries. He previously played with Kansas City up until the end of the 2018 season but signed with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency before never taking a snap with them. He tried out with a few teams before re-landing with the Chiefs in the winter.

Kansas City has the running back rotation to negate the loss of Ware. They have LeSean McCoy, Damien Williams and Darrel Williams to take the workload in a pass-heavy offense.

Williams injured his ankle earlier in the season. The big 6-2, 308-pound defensive lineman does not give much of a presence as a pass-rusher. However, he does act as a standout rush-defender for Kansas City. In five games of 2019 play — before suffering a high-ankle sprain — he tallied seven solo tackles and a forced fumble.

The move doesn't necessarily impact the effectiveness of the Kansas City offense. They will still be a tough team to beat. The Chargers aren't likely to take down this team in their final game of the season.
