Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins underwent an MRI on his foot as he dealt with some pain after Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

While Watkins’ injury does not appear to be serious, it still puts his status for Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals in doubt.

Watkins is having a fine debut season with the Chiefs. He’s played all nine games thus far, racking up 39 catches for 515 yards and three touchdowns as the third receiving option behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce in the Chiefs’ high-powered offense which leads the league in scoring at 36 points per game.

Even if Watkins’ injury isn’t too serious, the Chiefs might be wise to exercise caution with the wideout, who does have a history of foot problems. He suffered a broken foot while he was still a member of the Buffalo Bills in 2016, which cost him half the season.

After the Cardinals game, the Chiefs have a big showdown against the Los Angeles Rams coming up in Week 11 and have a bye the following week. Watkins’ chances of playing in that Rams game will be much better if he sits out against Arizona.

As evidenced by their massive 16.5-point spread as favorites, the Chiefs should have relatively few problems against the struggling Cardinals at home on Sunday if they are without Watkins.

With weapons like Hill, Kelce, and Kareem Hunt for Patrick Mahomes to still call upon, the Chiefs will likely not have too much trouble putting up points against Arizona.
