Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill greeted with cheers in return to practice
One of the biggest storylines this offseason was the situation surrounding Tyreek Hill. The speedy wideout returned to practice for the Chiefs to the delight of fans.
In the Chiefs’ first training camp practice, Tyreek Hill was greeted with cheers in his return to practice, per Adam Teicher of ESPN. Hill would then proceed to catch three deep passes from Patrick Mahomes.
The elephant in the room for the Chiefs is knowing the situation that Hill was involved in. Earlier this offseason, there were reports that Hill allegedly abused his child. As a result, the Chiefs advised Hill to keep his distance from the team until the process worked itself out.
Then, the NFL decided that there wasn’t enough evidence to punish Hill. Therefore, Hill avoided a suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy—allowing him to join the team for training camp.
Last season, Hill showcased his lightning speed to help the Chiefs lead the NFL in scoring in 2018. At the end of the season, Hill finished with 87 receptions, 1,479 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
Hill’s quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, knows how important it is for the Chiefs wideout to be present for training camp.
“Whenever you go out there on Sundays, it’s about stuff you did in training camp,” Mahomes said. “It’s about that hard work, that dedication you put in each and every day. You saw that today. We had a great practice to start it off, and I think we’re going to keep building as the training camp goes on.
Mahomes isn’t the only one who realizes how crucial Hill is to the Chiefs offense. In the first practice in training camp, Chiefs fans let Hill know that they are happy to see him back with the team.
