Tyreek Hill's status for the 2019 season remains unknown in the wake of allegations of child abuse against he and his fiancée. Perhaps preparing for the likelihood that they will be without the All-Pro playmaker both this season and going forward, the Kansas City Chiefs selected another ultra-explosive receiver in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Mecole Hardman.

A four-year starter at quarterback in high school, Hardman began his Georgia career at cornerback before being moved to wide receiver two years ago. After establishing himself as a legitimate weapon in the Bulldogs’ passing attack as a sophomore, he caught 35 passes for 543 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018, finishing second on the team in all three categories. Hardman was also named Second-Team All-SEC as a junior for his work in the return game.

Despite his rare physical tools and rapid development at wide receiver, it goes without saying that Hardman, even more than most rookies, will need some time to acclimate to the NFL game before scraping the ceiling of his potential. But at Tuesday's practice, Hardman showed a glimpse of what he's poised to bring to the table in 2019 as he continues learning the finer points of playing his new position.

Patrick Mahomes, of course, is the league's reigning MVP, and recently boasted that he could possibly throw a football 100 yards in the thin air of Mexico City, where Kansas City faces the Los Angeles Chargers on November 18th.

Hardman isn't quite as fast as Hill. But considering he ran a 4.33 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and clearly has the speed to run under Mahomes' deep balls, don't be surprised if he blazes to several long touchdowns during his debut season.
