Former UFC Middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered a broken leg 17 seconds into his UFC 261 bout against Uriah Hall. The entire UFC world was obviously shook with what transpired. The gruesome injury drew reactions from several stars around the UFC.
Derrick Lewis, who has a four-fight winning streak going for him, vowed to never deliver a leg kick again after seeing what happened to Weidman.
I will never throw a leg kick again @ufc

Welterweight fighter Michael Chiesa and MMA reporter Ariel Helwani noted that this is the exact same way Anderson Silva broke his leg. Ironically, it happened against Weidman in their fight eight years ago.
The man that broke Anderson Silva’s leg by checking a kick just broke his own leg by throwing a kick and getting it checked. Virtually exact same situation but reversed roles. This is MMA. Prayers out to The All-American. #UFC261

Holy.
Weidman just kicked Uriah Hall SECONDS into their fight and his leg snapped. The exact same thing that happened to Anderson Silva against Weidman. This is absolutely horrific.

Feel sick to my stomach. No one deserves this. This is a cruel, cruel sport.

Nobody was more speechless than the man who shared the Octagon with him on Saturday. Hall sent his well wishes to Weidman and his family during the post-fight interview.
“I hope he’s okay. I wish his family well if you guys are watching.”

Injuries suck, man. Unfortunately, these are all part of the game and these gut-wrenching injuries happen from time to time. As mentioned, everybody remembers the way Anderson Silva snapped his leg against Weidman before.
Weidman looked to carry the momentum from his unanimous decision victory over Omari Akhmedov in August of last year. Now, he is facing a lengthy road to recovery.
As for Uriah Hall, he looked to get retribution against Weidman, who dealt him his first loss in the UFC 11 years ago. While he did win on Saturday, he certainly didn't want it to happen this way.
Let's hope that Chris Weidman stays strong through this adversity and comes back even stronger.
