The final updates for Civilization VI (Civ VI) New Frontier Pass will arrive soon. The first batch of these updates, as usual, will be free. And the last Civ VI New Frontier Pass free game update will be bringing back the much-requested Trebuchets. This, along with a lot of cool new additions to the game comes in the Free Game Update 6.

3 NEW UNITS ARRIVE IN CIV VI FREE GAME UPDATE 6

Civilization VI developers revealed a whole slew of content coming for free this April. The most impactful change comes in the form of three new units, available to all civilizations. Fan-favorite unit Trebuchets return after not being present in the vanilla version of the game. The siege unit usually replaces the catapult as players' main way to capture cities. This addition, which will likely be placed between the catapult and the bombard, will make sieging in the medieval era much easier.

The other two new units coming to Civ VI are the Line Infantry and the Man-at-Arms. The Line Infantry appears to be an upgrade to the regular musketman. The Man-at-Arms, meanwhile, seems to be an intermediate unit between the spearman and the pikeman. These three units all fill a gap in the military tech tree. Their addition essentially buffs the militaristic style of gameplay.

The new free update will also introduce quality-of-life changes in Civ VI. This comes in the form of new map seeds, better AI, and rebalanced civilizations and leaders. In the game update teaser released by 2K, two new “True Start” maps have been added – True Start Mediterranean and True Start Huge Earth. They also said that the AI has been revamped to handle naval units better. This should make naval combat and trade much more interesting. Naval changes are indeed welcome especially since the addition of the Portugal civilization in the last update, a very navy-dependent civilization.

Finally, the developers also teased some changes to the civilizations and leaders of Civ VI. Because of the many changes and additions in later updates, patches, and expansions, older civilizations have become very outdated. Hence, a much-needed update to some of the civilizations' mechanics will be introduced. While a full list of the changes will only become known when the update itself drops, the developers teased changes for the Mapuche, Chinese, Khmer, and Canadian civilizations.

Civilization VI Free Game Update 6 for the New Frontier Pass arrives on April 22, 2021.
