Shemnai Fuller stood out with an impressive 15 points, leading the Clark Atlanta Panthers to victory over the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers with a final score of 62-70. The atmosphere at L.S. Epps Gymnasium was electric on Saturday night, with a sold-out crowd. The passionate Clark Atlanta fans made their presence known, creating a challenging environment for the Morehouse Tigers, who entered this game after a win against Talladega College.

From the opening tip, both teams came to play. In the first 10 minutes, there were three lead changes. Neither team could establish a clear advantage, as this game held significant implications for determining the better HBCU basketball team in Atlanta, GA. Clark Atlanta managed to go on an 8-0 run, which proved crucial for them. On the other hand, Morehouse struggled with their shooting, making only 8 of 36 attempts from the field in the first half. Consequently, Clark Atlanta built a significant lead over Morehouse. At the 4:46 mark, the Panthers extended their lead with a 14-2 run, heading into halftime with a 23-37 advantage.

In the second half, Morehouse made a strong comeback, narrowing their deficit to 7 points at 16:55 left. The standout performance of freshman Cedric Taylor lll was crucial for the Tigers, as he scored a season-high 17 points, with 15 of those points coming in the second half. Despite Morehouse’s efforts to reduce the Panthers’ lead, graduate students Andrew Stewart and Chris Martin from Clark Atlanta remained consistent and made significant contributions.

After a slow start in the first half, Stewart finished with 14 points (2 in the 1st half), while Martin ended with 13 points. With 10:41 left, the Panthers extended their lead by 16 points. However, Morehouse never gave up, and with 2:38 remaining, they managed to bring the score down to a close 4-point difference (62-66). Nevertheless, clutch baskets from Chris Martin and Jalen Nesmith sealed the victory for the Clark Atlanta Panthers.

Clark Atlanta junior center Kharye Cayne had an impressive performance, recording a season-high 6 blocks. Graduate students Andrew Stewart and Chris Martin made valuable contributions, with Stewart scoring 14 points and Martin adding 13.

Freshman Cedric Taylor lll shined for Morehouse, scoring 17 points, while Junior Jaden Gray contributed with 13 points. Morehouse College has recently faced challenges, losing 2 out of their last 4 games.

Morehouse College will return home and face the Fort Valley State Wildcats on January 29 at 7 P.M in Forbes Arena-Mcafee Court.
