Player rankings made by different media outlets have continued to draw negative reactions. Just recently, Blazers point guard C.J. McCollum suggested that they should also be able to return the favor and rank journalists as well, including those who do not name their “sources” on write-ups they make. Now, another player makes it known that he is not a fan of these rankings, and that he is ready to prove them all wrong.

L.A. Clippers guard Austin Rivers took to his Twitter account to let his followers know what he thinks of them. He called the rankings pointless and ridiculous, and sees it as a challenge to show everyone that he is better than what he is ranked.

With Chris Paul, J.J. Redick, and Jamal Crawford out of the Clippers lineup now, the 25-year-old Duke product will have the opportunity to compete for the starting point guard role this coming season. As a brief starter, Rivers averaged 16.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists for the Clippers in 2016-17. Should he play like he did when he started games last season, he could be in line for a breakout year.

Rivers' ability to play both guard spots is definitely something that plays to his advantage, as he provides the Clippers with a lot of versatility, and allows Doc Rivers and his staff to field in more combinations on the floor. If he can showcase his improved game this coming season, not only will he be able to prove the rankings wrong, but he may also be his team's undisputed starting point guard, and set himself up for an even better career.
