Los Angeles Clippers guard Reggie Jackson did it again in Monday night's Game 5 against the Phoenix Suns, playing the role of Robin to Paul George's Batman with Kawhi Leonard out as the Clippers extended their season with a 116-102 win. Jackson has been a revelation during the Clippers' playoff run after coming close to retirement last offseason.

With Jackson playing so well in the playoffs, some have come to calling him “Mr. June” in an ode to the “Mr. October” nickname for Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson. So, naturally, Marc Stein had to talk to the MLB legend about the Clippers guard's run.

Via Stein's New York Times newsletter:

“I’ve always known the name and seen him around,” Reggie Jackson, who spent five seasons with the Yankees and turned 75 in May, said in a telephone interview. “And I’ve always hoped for him to do well like this. The fact that he’s got my name, I’m glad to see him doing well a little extra. I want him to make the name good.”

The 75-year-old Reggie Jackson likes to attend Golden State Warriors games, and he apparently will try to see the Clippers' Reggie Jackson play at some point at the Chase Center. Who knows if the guard will still be on the Clippers then given he could be looking at a major payday in the offseason thanks to his postseason heroics.

In these playoffs, the 31-year-old Reggie Jackson is averaging 18.1 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 49.2% from the field and 41.5% on 3-pointers in 32.5 minutes per game. He has started in 16 of 18 games. The guard scored 23 points and put the final nails in the coffin in Game 5.

Even if LA falls short, Reggie Jackson deserves a lot of credit for bouncing back from injuries and becoming an impact player when it matters most.
