L.A. Clippers superstar Blake Griffin established himself early on as a highlight reel for show-stopping dunks. He furthered his high-flying profile by winning the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and playing a vital role in the ‘Lob City' era of the Clippers.

However, Blake Griffin has since become a much more complete player as he enters his eighth year in the NBA. It is for that reason the five-time All-Star admits he has had a love-hate relationship when it comes to dunking, via to Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated:

“I wanted to be a complete player, and I felt like the dunks started to overshadow other parts of my game. I felt like that's all that was being showcased. That's why I shied away from it a little over the years. I kind of had a love-hate with it.”

It is a rare occurrence to hear a player of Blake Griffin's stature actually find anything wrong with being capable of producing such aerial acrobatics. However, it is indicative of his commitment to becoming a more versatile scorer.

This may be a good thing for both Griffin and the Clippers as a whole, with point guard Chris Paul no longer running the show. He will surely need to find more ways to facilitate in order to prevent too big of a drop-off from recent years.
