Indianapolis Colts fans at Lucas Oil Stadium inexplicably booed quarterback Andrew Luck as he made his way off the field after news broke of his shocking retirement from the NFL on Saturday. The revelation obviously didn't sit well with fans in the stadium, as well as Colts fans on social media.

Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George once also called Indianapolis home when he played for the Indiana Pacers, and he sent out a series of tweets in reaction to Colts fans criticizing Luck's very personal decision to walk away from the game he loves. Let's just say George wasn't too pleased with how these fans treated their former quarterback:

George certainly knows a thing or two about getting booed in Indy. To this day, Indiana fans still have a negative reaction to their former Pacers star whenever he returns to Indianapolis. George obviously feels for Luck in this instance, as this had to be a very difficult choice for the 29-year-old.

Andrew Luck explained his decision to retire and cited injuries as the main culprit as to why he chose to walk away. The four-time Pro-Bowl member missed the entire 2017 season due to a nagging shoulder issue.

He added that constantly going through rehab and playing through pain had taken the happiness of playing football away from him. His latest lower leg injury in the preseason was likely the final straw.

Luck walks away from football in the prime years of his career. It's unfortunate what injuries can do, not only physically, but also mentally as we have seen with Luck.

Paul George, likewise, went through something similar in his career when he suffered a gruesome broken leg back in the summer of 2014. Fortunately, George was able to overcome both the injury and the mental trauma and has now reestablished himself as one of the best players in the NBA.
