The Los Angeles Clippers duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are the latest to speak up about the possibility of not allowing fans to watch NBA games as a preventive measure for the coronavirus global outbreak.

For George, he admits that this is a legitimate concern, but that for the players, they will still have an obligation to fulfill regardless of the circumstance.

“I think everyone is pretty much worried about the virus,” Paul George said, via Clippers insider Andrew Greif. “If it is fans, if it isn't fans [in attendance], we got a job to do.”

Leonard appears to be taking a different stance — one that is more focused on how the supporters will react should the league decide to enforce this policy.

“It'd be very different if it does come to that,” he said, also via Andrew Greif. “Hopefully the fans aren't mad or whatever. … I think we should just leave it up to the fans if they want to come to the games or not.”

Kawhi does make for a valid point here, but there's also no denying that the health and safety of the fans, the players, and everybody else must take precedence to the entertainment of watching an NBA game live.

This is indeed a very polarizing issue, and previously, even Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James had to backtrack on his initial statement regarding the issue. In Europe, they've already held some closed door football matches without the fans, and more recently, have suspended some of the leagues altogether. Although drastic, it would not be a complete shock if the NBA soon follows suit.
