The Los Angeles Clippers are considered heavy favorites to win the NBA title next season, and incoming second-year point guard Landry Shamet is already feeling some pressure with still more than two months left before the new season begins.

In an interview with Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype, Shamet admitted that he already “felt the weight” of being tagged as title favorites, especially for a starter like him. But while there is a lot of pressure on his shoulder if he retains his spot in the starting lineup, the 22-year-old said that he is up to the challenge.

“Starting on the best team on paper? I take it seriously,” Shamet said. “I felt the weight of it really quickly, for sure. I’m just excited to get acclimated with that group of guys, move forward and try to accomplish as much as we can.”

The Clippers are considered by most fans and basketball experts as the best team in the league right now. The Clippers won the race to sign Kawhi Leonard, who shunned offers from the Los Angeles Lakers and the Toronto Raptors in free agency.

Los Angeles also acquired superstar forward Paul George in a blockbuster deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, which paved the way for Leonard's arrival. The Clippers also kept free agents Patrick Beverley, JaMychal Green, and Ivica Zubac on their roster.
