LOS ANGELES – While the LA Clippers are making their way through the NBA's regular season, trying to endure the injury bug that's hit them early and often. Meanwhile, their brand new G-League team, the Agua Caliente Clippers are rolling through the franchise's first ever regular season. 24 games in, the AC Clippers have compiled a 13-11 record, and one of the most impressive young studs in the development league this season has been swingman Tyrone Wallace.

Wallace joined the Clippers on a training camp deal, and saw significant action in the final game of the NBA's preseason, putting up 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block on 7-16 shooting from the field, 2-5 from beyond the arc, and 7-10 from the free throw line in 45 minutes of action. After he failed to make the final roster, he was added to their G-League affiliate, where he's been flat out dominant thus far.

In 24 games for the Agua Caliente Clippers, the 23-year old Wallace is averaging 22.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game on 52.6 percent shooting from the field in 33.4 minutes per game.

Following a late December game, head coach Doc Rivers briefly spoke with ClutchPoints about the possibility of bringing Wallace up.

“Oh yeah hes been terrific, just terrific. We like him a lot, we just have to wait for the contracts to bring him up. The two-ways. We're running out of days soon.”

Well, that day has come. The LA Clippers have signed Wallace to a two-way deal on Saturday morning, just in time for Wallace to make his regular season debut with the team later that afternoon against the visiting Golden State Warriors.

Just prior to the game, Wallace spoke to ClutchPoints about being called up and playing his first game against the defending NBA Champions.

“I guess you could say that, yeah” replied Wallace when asked if he felt like this opportunity was a long time coming. “I'm excited, definitely. We all work to get to this point and its been a grind but I'm able to be here today and play my first game. It really didnt matter who was on the other side. Obviously Golden State is a great team, but I'm just excited to be out there and play. Play hard and do what I can to help the team.

“I feel like I know the system. I was here preseason and we run some of the same stuff with our G-League team so I think I'm familiar. get downhill and just be aggressive.”

Wallace will have a chance for increased playing time over the next couple of weeks with Austin Rivers expected to be out at least another week and a half, as well as Milos Teodosic dealing with soreness from the plantar fascia injury in his left foot.
