Kawhi Leonard's future with the Los Angeles Clippers has been put in doubt over the last few weeks, especially after the team's failure to even compete for a championship over the past two seasons. In fact, rumors are swirling about Leonard's preferred or potential landing spots should he opt out of the final year of his contract.

However, according to the latest report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, it does not look like Leonard is going away and leaving the Clippers.

“I've got no indication that Kawhi Leonard is interested in doing anything besides re-signing with the Clippers and rehabbing that injury,” the veteran NBA insider said during the Woj & Lowe Free Agency Special (h/t Rob Goldeberg of Bleacher Report).

This contradicts earlier reports stating that Kawhi Leonard staying with the Clippers is no longer a “safe assumption,” with teams like the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and Miami Heat all expected to pursue the two-time champion in free agency.

However, as also noted, Leonard's camp is known to be tight-lipped when it comes to free agency matters. One good example was the Klaw's own signing with the Clippers in 2019 after the rumors said he's leaning on joining LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Clips had been ruled out as a destination for Kawhi back then, but fans know how that turned out.

The wait for Kawhi's decision won't be long though, as his deadline to decline his player option is August 1st. His recovery from surgery to partially torn ACL is also expected to affect his decision whether to test free agency or just re-sign with the Clippers and focus on rehabbing his knee.
