When the Los Angeles Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard in free agency and acquired Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the summer of 2019, Patrick Beverley went crazy in Las Vegas.

According to a report from ESPN, Beverley jumped on a Las Vegas dinner table and yelled, “I just won the fu**ing championship” right after it was announced that the Clippers got Leonard and George.

Without an All-Star on the team, the 2018-19 Clippers took the mighty Golden State Warriors to six games in the first round of the 2019 playoffs. The prevailing thought was that the Clips were going to be title contenders with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the mix next to Patrick Beverley, Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams.

During the 2019-20 regular season, the Clippers racked up the second-best record in the Western Conference. They took care of the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World in six games and went up 3-1 on the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals.

All signs pointed toward the Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers meeting in the conference finals for the first time ever. Everyone was looking forward to seeing Leonard and George go up against LeBron James and Anthony Davis in a seven-game series.

However, LAC blew a 3-1 series lead to the Nuggets and lost the series in seven games. George and Harrell got into a shouting match on the bench in the playoffs and Leonard and PG failed to score a single point in the fourth quarter in Game 7 against the Nuggets.

The Clippers will look a little different next season, as Harrell signed with the Lakers in free agency and Doc Rivers is no longer the head coach. Rivers was replaced by Tyronn Lue.
