Throughout their history, the Indianapolis Colts' logo and uniforms have remained largely unchanged. That is, until now.

The Colts have added a secondary logo and have made some minor tweaks to their wordmark and jerseys, alterations that can be seen below:

This certainly isn't an overhaul, as the differences aren't all that noticeable. However, it does represent a change for Indianapolis for the first time in quite a while. It also aligns with numerous teams around the league making alterations to their uniforms, branding or both this offseason.

This is just the latest twist in what has been a rather interesting offseason for the Colts. Indy's biggest move thus far this spring was making a change under center, as it signed veteran quarterback Philip Rivers to supplant Jacoby Brissett.

Indianapolis has also made some upgrades on defense, particularly in the form of acquiring star defensive lineman DeForest Buckner in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Colts were blindsided just before the 2019 NFL campaign began, as presumed long-term franchise quarterback Andrew Luck announced his retirement. Luck's sudden decision thrust Brissett into the starting role, and early on, to some success. Indianapolis went 5-2 over its first seven games, and Brissett was even playing like a fringe MVP candidate.

Then, the wheels began to come off.

Indy lost seven of its final nine games to finish the season 7-9, and missed the playoffs. Brissett's play also tailed off considerably during the second half, although part of that can be chalked up to the Colts' offense being devastated by injuries.

Either way, Indianapolis obviously felt the need to go in a different direction at signal-caller, and apparently, the Colts also felt some other changed needed to be made on a superficial level as well.
