The Indianapolis Colts have officially reshaped their whole quarterback room by signing Nick Foles to be the backup to Matt Ryan.

In a move that certainly (albeit, probably indirectly) shows they are through with Carson Wentz, the Colts signed the former Super Bowl MVP to provide depth behind their new star quarterback and reunite him with Frank Reich. Before he became the head coach in Indy, he was helping Foles and Doug Pederson win the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Foles said that Reich has been a “great mentor” who keeps in touch with him and that it's “special” to team up together on the Colts. Not only was Reich his offensive coordinator but he was also a backup quarterback that stepped in for a huge playoff moment. Their connection should blossom further now that they are teaming up once more.

Although Foles is years removed from being a postseason hero and is not expected to have a big impact on this Colts team, having him around should be more beneficial than not. The chemistry he has with Reich will be great for the locker room. In the event that Ryan goes down with an injury, that chemistry will be extra important.

The Colts signed Foles to a two-year deal after two lackluster seasons with the Chicago Bears. They have made numerous other upgrades throughout the offseason, namely with Stephon Gilmore and Yannick Ngakoue. After coming painfully close to the playoffs, they are hoping Ryan is a big enough upgrade to get them there.
