After trading away Carson Wentz, the Indianapolis Colts' are on the hunt for a new quarterback. After nearly making the playoffs last season, it makes sense for them to push for a better guy under center. The word on the street is that they are looking at Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins to take the helm for them.

However, if the Colts do flop on their Cousins chase, they have another name in mind: Gardner Minshew. The ex-Jaguars QB played on the Philadelphia Eagles last season, the same team as Wentz prior to his stint in Indy. (via Jason La Canfora)

Minshew has been a fan-favorite in the NFL since his stint in Jacksonville. He wasn't exactly a top-tier quarterback, but his personality and mustache made him popular amongst fans. If the Colts do land Minshew, though, it's unclear whether he can improve upon or even match Wentz' lone season in Indy.

Minshew's on-field production is, well, average. In his two years in Jacksonville, Minshew posted a sub-50 quarterback rating there. He didn't throw too many interceptions, though: a key concern the Colts had with Wentz. In addition, all accounts on Minshew point to him not being a bad teammate, a reputation Wentz failed to shake off last year.

Obviously, Colts fans are hoping that they'll snag a top-tier guy like Cousins or perhaps Jimmy Garoppolo. However, if they whiff on those attempts, Minshew will be a solid guy to transition them from this season to the next one.
