Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor continues to hint at a possible pursuit of an ownership stake in Manchester United FC.

McGregor took to Twitter to suggest he could have interest in purchasing the esteemed club after chairman Ed Woodward resigned last month. He answered questions regarding his purported interest on Sunday.

The “Notorious One” admitted he had a “conversation” about Irish club Celtic FC, but reiterated he would have interest in the Red Devils, as well:

“A conversation came up regarding Celtic first to be honest,” Conor McGregor tweeted. “To acquire shares from Dermot Desmond. I am certainly interested in acquiring a sports team at some stage! Both Celtic and Man United are teams I like for sure. But I am open. I feel I could do big things for a club.”

Conor McGregor has always been every bit a businessman as he is a UFC star.

The Irishman just recently sold the majority stake of his Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey for $600 to Proximo Spirits, per ESPN:

Proximo previously held a 49% stake in the company. The $600 million will go to brand co-founders McGregor, his agent Audie Attar of Paradigm Sports Management and their partner Ken Austin, who told the publication that the sum includes the $250 million the team already earned in the brand's first two years in business with Proximo.

It remains to be seen whether McGregor will really follow through with his apparent interest to purchase a club.

For now, UFC fans are surely preparing for the Conor McGregor-Dustin Poirier trilogy fight, which takes place on July 10 in Las Vegas.
