After another embarrassing start to a season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers that saw them get handled by Illinois, the sellout streak at Memorial Stadium entering their home opener is in serious jeopardy.

The streak sits at 375 consecutive sellouts but after another deflating start to a season under head coach Scott Frost, it isn't looking for Nebraska.

The streak has had some help in recent seasons as large amounts of tickets have been scooped up by boosters to keep the streak alive. Pockets of empty seats at Memorial Stadium have been seen more and more frequently despite the streak living on.

Nebraska looked flat out abysmal at times against Illinois on Saturday in their 30-22 loss to start the season. Scott Frost sounded off afterwards, via ESPN, about how this season felt like the exact same to others while he's been the head coach.

“It looked like the same movie,” Frost said. “I just got done telling the guys, ‘We can't have this season look like the same movie,' because this game looked like the same movie today. I don't know what we're doing trying to field the punt inside the 1 [yard line] and then trying to throw it out of the end zone, missing a couple extra points certainly didn't help.”

Frost can direct the blame elsewhere all he wants but it's Frost who is firmly on the hot seat now. If Nebraska doesn't turn things around quickly, they could be looking for a new head coach. The Cornhuskers will look to take some of the anger out against Fordham in their second game.
