Less than 24 hours after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus, his teammate Donovan Mitchell did as well — the only other case out of 58 people tested for the virus. While their immediate teammates and employees are in the clear, Gobert and Mitchell visited two non-NBA gyms before testing positive.

Gobert was preparing for a game against the Boston Celtics on March 6 while the team held practice in the Brown and Plofker gym at Emerson College. Emerson president Lee Pelton said Director of Health and Wellness Jane Powers has reached out to the Boston Public Health Commission for assistance.

“We typically give a wide berth to the professionals who practice in our gym,” Pelton told Ethan McDowell and Aaron J. Miller of The Berkeley Beacon.

Junior Henry Johnston, the Director of Emerson Channel Sports said he was there when the Jazz practiced in the gym March 5. Johnston said the Jazz practiced on the court and sat on the bleachers while at least one player rode a stationary bike. It's unknown who, if anyone, had the coronavirus at the time.

Mitchell visited Del City High School in Oklahoma on Wednesday morning, according to Joe Mussatto and Cameron Jourdan of The Oklahoman. That's nearly 24 hours before testing positive for coronavirus.

The Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and the Cleveland Cavaliers players have been told to get tested and self-quarantine, considering they have played the Jazz within the past 10 days, to see if they catch symptoms of the coronavirus.

Students and personnel at Emerson and Del City should probably follow the same steps soon in hopes to contain the outbreak of this virus.
