Dallas Cowboys defensive end Aldon Smith has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL, after a near five-year layoff from the NFL with the hopes of being a better player on and off the field. On the field, Smith showed how good of a player he could be racking up 33.5 sacks during his first two years of his career.

Off the field is where the issues were for Smith. Multiple DUI's, illegal possession of assault weapons, and being arrested for making bomb threats were just the start of the problems.

According to the Cowboys defensive piece, all those issues that troubled him are now behind him, and he heads into the 2020 season as a better man.

“My goal is to pick up where I left off. That just means I always work hard. I always play hard. I want the same thing out of my teammates and I’m sure those guys in the locker room feel the same way, and with that mentality, the sky is the limit. I think as long as we do what we need to do and everybody plays to their potential anything’s possible, Smith said to TMZ.”

Smith thinks one of the big positives from the situation is he doesn't have as many miles on his body. Even though he is 30 years old, the Cowboys defensive end doesn't have as much wear on his body.

“So, I still feel young. I don’t have the mileage on my body. I still feel great when I go to the gym. I still feel young and fresh. So, if anything, I’m looking forward to what I’m going to be able to do out there.

“I’m an overall better person [than I was back then],” Smith says.

If Smith can stay out of trouble, the Cowboys could have a difference-maker on their defense.
