After an offseason filled with uncertainty, the Dallas Cowboys officially decided to part ways with wide receiver Dez Bryant. Regardless, it seems his presence will still be strongly felt by the team for years to come.

Prior to his release, the Cowboys added another fellow No. 88 to the team in former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns. But Hurns, who earlier said he'd wear No. 17 in memory of the Stoneman Douglas shooting, once again made it clear with a post on Twitter that he will not be rocking the 88 for the 2018 NFL season. He also does not think anyone else that plays for the Cowboys ever should:

Hurns' comments are indicative of the respect he has for Bryant's tenure with the Cowboys. It goes without saying that he was once one of the premier wideouts in the game.

Dallas had taken Bryant with the 24th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He burst onto the scene in his second season by registering 928 yards and nine touchdowns. He followed up his stellar campaign with three straight 1,000-yard, double-digit touchdown seasons before being riddled with injuries over the next two years.

Regardless, he has still made his mark in Dallas after recording 531 receptions, 7,459 yards, and a franchise record 73 touchdowns in his eight-year career. His boisterous personality also made him a polarizing figure with the Cowboys. However, he is not the only one to enjoy tremendous success in the No. 88 jersey.

Cowboys legends such as Michael Irvin and Drew Pearson also made their marks in team history after spending their careers wearing the same number. That said, Dallas may potentially be saving it for their next great wideout to give it too.
