The Dallas Cowboys are in a weird situation with their wide receivers this offseason. With major free agents like Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, it's inevitable that one of their top wide-outs will be moving on to a different team next season. The common consensus is that Cooper is the untouchable one, due to his production.

However, if this report from Michael Gehlken is to be believed, it could be Amari Cooper that will leave the Cowboys in free agency. Gehlken reports that there is considerable chatter amongst the league that Gallup and CeeDee Lamb will be staying, with the franchise letting go of Cooper.

There are still too many moving pieces to say exactly how the situation will unfold, one person close to the situation cautioned Thursday. It could be Gallup who rejoins Lamb in Dallas. It could be Cooper. At this stage, however, the shared opinion from several sources at the NFL combine is it would be an upset if Cooper returns.

Cooper has been an incredible producer for the Cowboys last season. Despite missing a few games due to COVID-19, he still produced 57.7 yards per game in the season. However, it's clear from his stats that his production has declined from the past two seasons. This could explain the franchise's hesitance in committing to Cooper.

Should the Cowboys choose to let go of Cooper, they still have a bunch of talent in the offense. Gallup, despite an ACL tear he suffered, should prove to be an excellent receiver. Lamb is also a stellar talent. This will be an important decision in the Cowboys' offseason, one that can have major ramifications down the line.
