One of, if not the biggest issue the Dallas Cowboys need to address in the offseason is the contract of superstar quarterback Dak Prescott, who many believe is in line for a big-money extension with the Cowboys.

However, if you ask former NFL signal-caller Carson Palmer, the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback might not necessarily agree with this notion.

In a recent interview on 105.3 The Fan, Palmer explained why he believes that it would be in the best interest of Prescott and the Cowboys if the 27-year-old lowered his demands:

“You’ve seen Dak on tons of commercials and endorsements,” Palmer said (h/t Braulio Perez of Fansided). “You can make that same top-tier money if you’re Dak and you take a little bit less, and you keep all the players around you within the salary cap structure.”

In all honesty, Palmer's statement here makes some sense here. If Prescott actually agreed to take less money, it would put the Cowboys in a better position in terms of their salary cap.

However, the big question here is if Prescott actually needs to make this sacrifice simply because of the fact that he's the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Prescott has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the league today and it's hard to argue against the notion that he deserves top-tier money.

For their part, the Cowboys appear to be taking their sweet time in renewing their cornerstone star's expiring deal. We're pretty sure Jerry Jones knows what he's doing here, but there's no denying that the Dallas front office is playing a truly dangerous game here.
