For the longest time, sports card companies have always had that tradition of sending athletes their products so they can sign them. While that's happening, the likes of Panini and Upper Deck hand out redemption cards to collectors so they can have these autographed memorabilia in the future, just in case the athlete in question takes too long to finish signing. Although that has been the norm, it seems that the Dallas Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb didn't get the memo, as evidenced by Leaf suing him for refusing to sign his rookie cards.

In a video shared by Find Your Trove on Instagram, Leaf has filed a lawsuit against Lamb to compel the Cowboys' wide receiver to finish signing the rookie cards the company has sent him. In turn, Brian Gray, the card company's CEO, said that this is being done so customers who have been holding the NFL player's redemption cards won't be forced to make replacements.

This unfortunate turn of events marks the first time a card company has sued a star athlete for not signing autographs. Gray added that they hate doing this but their customers are in need of defending in this matter.

Leaf's lawsuit seeks $100,000 worth of damages and attorney fees after Lamb's refusal to sign his rookie cards led to the loss of income, loss of goodwill with the company's customers, and significant impairment to the company's reputation.

Find Your Trove's video goes further by saying that Lamb has signed a couple of football cards from Panini, one of Leaf's rivals in the industry. But while the Cowboys' star has done so for Panini, it remains unknown why he hasn't done the same for Leaf and the training cards they sent him.

This developing story in the hobby is just getting started. What's certain at this point in time is that it doesn't look good for CeeDee Lamb as Leaf is pushing on with its offensive in court soon.
