The Dallas Cowboys came up short in their Week 10 primetime game against the Minnesota Vikings thanks in part due to some questionable playcalling down the stretch. Quarterback Dak Prescott has since offered up his thoughts on their approach in the fourth quarter.

Despite finding plenty of success through the air to start the drive, the Cowboys opted to run the ball on three straight plays before their fourth-down attempt ended with an incomplete pass to running back Ezekiel Elliott. According to Damon R. Marx of The Dallas Morning News, Prescott says Dallas was hoping to shave as much time off the clock as possible:

Dak Prescott indicated after the game that the strategy in running Ezekiel Elliott at the end of the game was to make sure they didn't leave too much time on the clock for the Vikings. He's refused to question the play-calling on a couple of occasions.

Despite the reasoning, it is safe to say that their plans did not work. Dallas' primary concern should have involved Prescott getting the ball to wide receiver Amari Cooper after they had already connected 11 times for 147 yards and a spectacular touchdown.

Instead, the Cowboys now find themselves tied with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East at 5-4 and head coach Jason Garrett will continue to take flak for his questionable playcalling throughout the 2019 NFL season. Although they have the benefit of playing in a weak division with the Eagles as their only competitors at the moment, they will need to bounce back with a win in Week 11 or risk losing control of their playoff fate.
