The Dallas Cowboys will have to decide what to do with Dak Prescott after the season concludes. While appearing on ESPN's First Take, Damien Woody says that Dallas should franchise tag Prescott.

Prescott is playing in the final year of his rookie contract that he received after the 2016 NFL Draft. Of course, the Cowboys selected Prescott in the fourth round. Thus eliminating the opportunity of a fifth-year option.

During the previous offseason, the Cowboys and Prescott seemed to have begun contract talks. Following an offer by the Cowboys, Prescott chose to bet on himself and table talks until after the 2019 season.

While Prescott didn't receive an extension, the other two quarterbacks (Carson Wentz, Jared Goff) that headlined the 2016 NFL Draft did. Both Wentz and Goff were handed extensions that were worth at least $32 million annually.

The fourth-year quarterback out of Mississipi State is having the best season of his career. Heading into Week 17, Prescott has totaled 4,599 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The passing yards and passing touchdowns are both career highs.

There are some weeks where Prescott seems to be turning the corner as one of the up and coming quarterbacks. But then there are performances like the one he had in Week 16 versus the Philadelphia Eagles that make you nervous to secure him long-term.

Nevertheless, in today's NFL, teams are almost inclined to sign their quarterback to an extension once he proves he is serviceable. Prescott is more than serviceable, but would the franchise tag be the right move next offseason?

Without a doubt, Prescott would probably be discontent with the notion of playing under the franchise tag. At the same time, he'd be given another season with the Cowboys to prove that he should be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
