Dez Bryant's career with the Dallas Cowboys was a roller-coaster ride, and the free-agent wideout is looking to right some wrongs in the coming season.

The Cowboys confirmed that Bryant reached out to them in the hopes of restarting his football career. Depending on your stance on Bryant, the news either thrilled you or made you groan.

Via Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram:

“He has texted me that he would like to come back,” team vice president Stephen Jones said Thursday. “We have nothing but great respect for Dez and what he accomplished here. Certainly, as we look forward into the future we look at all opportunities and all potential players that could maybe help us out.”

Bryant last played for the Cowboys in 2017 before having enough of Jason Garrett's coaching style and walking away from the game. In the final year of his first stint with the team, the three-time Pro Bowler notched 838 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. However, he hated the way Garrett ran the team.

Bryant has never been shy about his dislike for his former Cowboys coach. He said that Garrett did nothing but waste his prime years, and he has stood by that belief:

“I’m keeping it all the way 100000 right now,” Bryant said in a tweet. “I knew this very early in my career… I’m sorry I’m just stating facts… I know exactly what football is and I know how it suppose[d] to be played…”

Now that the Cowboys have Mike McCarthy as the team's head coach, Bryant wants to play for the Cowboys one more time. Whether Dallas gives him that chance is an entirely different matter, however.
