The Dallas Cowboys have high expectations for this season and one of their greatest players ever, Emmitt Smith, thinks they have all the pieces to be a Super Bowl contender.

Smith knows that the Cowboys didn't make the sexy draft picks this year, but this is a team that made the picks that needed to happen for them to improve even more.

“I thought the Cowboys did a very good job on draft picks this year,” Smith said on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM earlier this week. “It wasn't sexy, but I thought they filled a few gaps. D-tackle can obviously help with the rotation on the d-line, offensive lineman filling in at guard or a utility guy that you can move around. Now it's about that offseason chemistry. How this team is able to develop that chemistry along with the new coordinator now. How all of those things come together. We do have the pieces to the puzzle in place. It's all about execution and consistency, and most importantly great health.”

The Cowboys selected five defensive players, which shows that the team has faith in the offense and what they can do this upcoming season. One of the keys for the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl is the play of Dak Prescott and Smith thinks he is a player who can get it done.

Smith points out that Cowboys quarterbacks have a lot of extra pressure on them, so it might take them longer to get comfortable in their role, but he thinks Prescott is starting to show how good he can be and it's only a fraction of his potential.
