With the Dallas Cowboys on their bye week in Week 6, there has been another development in All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott's suspension fiasco, as the 5th circuit court ruled in favor of NFL on Thursday to have Elliott's six-game ban reinstated.

The 5th circuit of appeals' decision came down siding with the NFL because they deemed that the NFLPA acted too quickly and that there was a chance that arbitrator Harold Henderson could have made a decision in his favor if they let the process play out. The ruling vacates the preliminary injunction, which immediately puts the suspension back into place that the league had originally handed down to Elliott after a year-long investigation into domestic violence accusations that were made by his former girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson.
It has now shifted things onto the NFLPA, which is expected to take more legal action by re-filing the case with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in an attempt to gain a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to avoid the 22-year-old from missing any playing time. With the Cowboys on their bye week, there is a possibility things could gain more clarity before their Week 7 matchup on Oct. 22 against the San Francisco 49ers.
There have been many twists and turns in this situation, with various variables in play. Although the suspension has been restored, things could change in the coming days through the court system.
