Gerald McCoy, who recently inked a three-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, is already getting along well with his new team's coaching staff.

Amid the coronavirus crisis which has shut down cities worldwide, McCoy took the time to speak with some of the Cowboys' coaching staff and their plans for him. The six-time Pro Bowl is satisfied that his team will allow him to play his game, emphasizing that it's exactly what he wants to do.

In an online interview with Shannon Gross of “Hangin' With the Boys,” McCoy deatiled more what the Cowboys plan for him.

“I talked to the coaches a little bit. (The scheme) fits me,” Gerald McCoy said, as transcribed by Nick Eatman of dallascowboys.com “Everything they want to do is everything I love to do. And they're going to let me be me. They're bringing me in to be me – get up the field, disrupt the passer, get in the backfield and make plays. That's what I love to do and that's what they're going to allow me to do.”

This is not the first time that the Cowboys approached McCoy. Last year, the team also wanted to lure him in but things didn't work out then. Now that he's officially a Cowboy, he noted that he's been forming key relationships with nose tackle Donari Poe and linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence.

McCoy is also looking forward to more meetings with the team.

The 32-year-old McCoy will be entering his 11th season in the NFL. Injuries have piled up for the defensive tackle over the course of his career, and so to remain fit and healthy, he said that he shed some 20 pounds this offseason.
