The Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott have yet to come to terms on a new deal, with the latter continuing to hold out. Regardless, the 24-year-old running back is ready to go and is reportedly keeping himself in shape with private workouts in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

It remains to be seen how long contract negotiations will take, although at least one person believes that Elliott will be present by Week 1 for the Dallas Cowboys. Former NFL star Greg Jennings made the bold prediction, singling out that it will be done because team owner Jerry Jones has the money on the Undisputed.

The Cowboys have three contracts to fix. Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper have yet to get new deals although Jones mentioned that all three will be given contracts commensurate to the top-five players of their respective positions, ESPN reported.

The Cowboys are growing frustrated with the lack of engagement in negotiations with the players, something which will hopefully be sorted out soon.

Dallas needs to get Elliott back into the fold as soon as possible. While he is staying in shape, there are still some major concerns about how his absence could impact team chemistry. He is also a huge part of the offense and playing with fire is never a good idea in contract negotiations.

Expect to hear more news about this situation in the coming weeks as the regular season draws near.
