Earlier this week, it was reported that Dallas Cowboys offensive linemen La'el Collins and Tyron Smith could play this Sunday. Both players were held out of practice due to injuries. But according to Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys will be without Collins, with a grim chance for Smith to play today.

Collins is battling through an MCL injury that he suffered in last Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, which led to  Brandon Knight to take over his duties to finish the game. Collins did not play in the Packers matchup, in which Cameron Fleming started in his place.

While injuries are putting the Cowboys in a tough position offensively, their ship hasn't sunk yet. However, it will be hard for them to prosper without consistency on the offensive line. Last week, running back Ezekiel Elliott had 12 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown.

But not relying on their bellcow running back in a marquee matchup can be attributed to either they felt more comfortable with quarterback Dak Prescott getting them back in the game or a way to protect Elliott from a depleted offensive line.

Either way, if Tyron Smith can find his way back to the lineup it would serve as a plus. Elliott has rushed for a combined 97 yards in the Cowboys last two games: both losses. A win today versus the Jets should put the Cowboys back in the driver seat as one of the NFC's top teams. But it won't sustain if the most important pieces aren't on the field for the long haul.
