Michael Irvin has joined the seemingly never-ending war of words surrounding Donovan McNabb. The Dallas Cowboys legend interjected himself into the latest drama in order to back up his former teammate and quarterback Troy Aikman.

This all started last week when McNabb said that his numbers were better than Aikman's while making his case for the Hall of Fame. McNabb has been doing a lot of talking lately, catching a lot of flak for his comments about Carson Wentz. Most recently, he's been talking up his Hall of Fame candidacy.

In an interview with TMZ, Irvin pushed back on his claims about his numbers being better than Aikman's.

“It just seems like everybody is talking about numbers and not the number that matters most and that's winning … that's what playing the game is all about — winning football games, winning Super Bowls and of course, Troy Aikman has done that,” he said.

While Irvin disagreed strongly that McNabb had a case over Aikman, he did back up the former Philadelphia Eagles passer in one regard. Irvin said he supports McNabb's induction into the Hall of Fame, and that he should be in Canton.

Aikman and McNabb's careers only overlapped by one year, so comparing their stats directly might not be apples-to-apples. McNabb made the Pro Bowl six times and made a Super Bowl in the 2004 season, but he lost and never made it back.

McNabb has been in the headlines a lot recently, and he hasn't exactly been endearing himself to Eagles fans. He's been causing a lot of controversy, and this is just the latest one. He's probably not helping his case for a gold jacket.
