While the Dallas Cowboys were able to make a statement on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, they suffered a scare in doing so. Two of their stars on defense, Robert Quinn and Leighton Vander Esch, were forced to exits Sunday's game early, with Quinn suffering from a rib injury and Vander Esch leaving with a neck injury.

Luckily for Dallas, the injuries do not seem severe enough to keep them out past their bye week, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The 29-year-old Quinn is the Cowboys' leader in sacks with six on the season and has been able to consistently pressure the quarterback on the opposite side of Demarcus Lawrence. Vander Esch has been one of the league's best linebackers since entering the league in 2018.

Dallas was able to handily beat the Eagles and claim the top spot in the NFC East. Along with the pressure on Carson Wentz, the Dallas defense did not give any life to the Eagles offense. Wentz had a completion percentage of just over 61% and was held to under 200 yards passing.

The team might have found some extra motivation after Philly head coach Doug Pederson all but guaranteed a victory for the Eagles.

The Cowboys will hope to be at full strength in Week 9 when they are set to face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Their bye week will be much needed in order to get everyone healthy and make a second-half playoff push.
