The relationship between Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is getting pretty ugly. Jones appears determined to derail Goodell's contract extension talks and now has gone as far as potentially using legal action.

According to Ken Belson of the New York Times, Jones is threatening to sue.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has escalated a feud with Goodell, threatening to sue the league and some fellow team owners over negotiations to extend Goodell’s contract, according to three people with direct knowledge of the situation.

Jones hasn't been happy with the way Goodell and the league have handled Ezekiel Elliott's suspension. In the same way Jones is attempting to make it difficult to extend Goodell's contract, the league has done everything within its power to ensure Elliott serves his six-game suspension.

The longtime owner of the Cowboys has reportedly hired lawyer David Boies to deal with the situation if comes to legal action, via Belson.

Jones told the six owners on the league’s compensation committee last week that he had hired David Boies, the high-profile lawyer under fire in the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment case, according to the people, who declined to speak publicly about internal league matters.

With Jones seemingly determined to make his voice heard, this situation could go on for quite some time. There's no telling how this may all pan out, but it's abundantly clear that neither side is backing down.
