Dak Prescott missed the Dallas Cowboys' Week 8 game against the Minnesota Vikings due to a calf injury, and while initial reports indicate it's not serious, that might not be the case.

Apparently during the NBC broadcast of the Cowboys-Vikings showdown, Michele Tafoya reported that Prescott has a calf tear instead of a strain. Recovery time for such injury is up to four weeks, which means the star quarterback could be sidelined until Week 10 or more if it proves to be true.

Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless tweeted the development while also expressing his frustration about Prescott's injury.

The Cowboys did win against the Vikings, with Cooper Rush taking over the starting QB spot in place of Dak Prescott. Rush threw one interception and was only 24-of-40 in passes completed, but his two touchdowns were enough to keep Dallas winning.

However, if Prescott's injury is indeed worse than initially feared, Rush will certainly need to step up his game. After all, the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons could prove to be difficult opponents, especially as they aim to improve their chances of making the playoffs.

Of course there are questions about the legitimacy of the report. Prescott was deemed a game-time decision on Sunday before the Cowboys officially ruled him out. He even joined the team in their trip to Minnesota for the Week 8 contest. If his injury is that serious, the team would have certainly forced him to stay at home to recover.

Moreover, Prescott went through pre-game warmups. Head coach Mike McCarthy then explained they just felt it would be better if they give Dak more time to heal instead of rushing him back.

“We just feel like it’s better to go with Cooper Rush and give Dak more time to heal. … These are conversations that were going on all week. We feel like we’re making the best decision for Dak,” McCarthy shared.

It's unknown what the real extent of Prescott's injury is, but Dallas fans are surely hoping for the best.
